People don’t buy needs and wants — they buy passion and fear. Especially the negative spectrum of fear — confusion, rage, anxiety, contrarian views. That’s the stuff they click on and read. They’re viscerally attracted to headlines that piss them off.

Say things that go against their worldview, and they’ll get mad. That’s perfect — because then they’ll click on your article and rage-read every word. That’s the twisted truth of online content creation: Make content that enflames, and the angry readers will pay you for their outrage.
