As outlined in Caroline Perez's excellent "Inisible Women", women do 75% of the global unpaid work. Women have always worked (paid and unpaid) but the traditional workplace hasn’t worked for women. It is tailored to an unencumbered worker, i.e., the male default. Because seeing humans as men is the default.
