I Am Back On The (Housing) Market
This time, I’ll go big or go apartment.
Back on the market, but this time, the stakes are higher – it’s London calling.
To finally swap my Irish haven for a slice of the Big Smoke. My wish list is quite simple: a snug spot in Zone 2, sprawling over 1000 square feet, boasting at least two bathrooms. Easy, innit?
Apartments have been my go-to, a familiar comfort zone. But my recent sleepless nights spent diving into the murky waters of leaseholds, ground rents, and those eye-watering service charges has me rethinking. So yeah: Houses only.
And not just any houses – no terraced monstrosities, for example. I’m setting my sights on the boomer favourite semi-detached variety. A place where I own the land, the walls, and every blade of grass that dares to sprout.
Forget the awkward elevator encounters with my plant-based neighbors. I’m envisioning our own little fortress, a personal citadel in the midst of urban sprawl. Sure, the budget might tighten its noose around some of those grandiose dreams, but I’m ready to navigate this journey.
Today marks the beginning. Armed with ambition (and perhaps a dash of naivety), I step into London’s property maze.
Will my quest for the perfect semi-detached castle amidst the concrete jungle bear fruit? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for certain – I’m all in, ready to trade the emerald isle’s charm for the relentless rhythm of London life.
Let the adventure begin!
