Embracing Discomfort.

Monday blues instantly hit me as soon as I open my eyes.

Another day, another dollar. Amble across the bathroom to get showered and shaved and suited up. Light grey suit, crisp white shirt, dark navy knitted tie and matching pocket square. Looking the part. On goes the leather trench, and off we cycle into the heart of London for a day of enterprise.

Most of my internal stakeholders were on an extended thanksgiving break. I welcome them back with updates on the juicy bits they missed. I finish all my calls, only to be left with a gargantuan workload. Par for the course. I really do need to make time to stop fighting fires and figure out WHY I am doing what I am doing.

No lunch, as usual. Quick stroll around the block in the freezing cold. Feeling it today. Tired, lazy, hazy, lacking the fizz.

Cycled home around 4pm, already full dark. Quick rib eye steak and pepper sauce for dinner. No workout. No mojo. Just plonked myself on the couch and spoke to the in-laws via WhatsApp.

Ditched “chip war”. Well written and meticulous as it is, the subject matter is far too dry to hold my attention. Switch to “The Richest Man in Babylon” instead. Instantly hooked! The excellent writing style — from 100 years ago — still rings crisp and true. Wolf down a couple of chapters before the Mrs yells at me to turn off the light and sleep.

So I oblige. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Chat then!
