Embracing Discomfort.

Woke up to fog. Thick, deep, impenetrable. Biked to work in record time despite spending most of the time adjusting & readjusting my bottle green suit & leather trench coat combination. Looks great in a snapshot FYI, but damn it’s finicky. Especially on frigid London cycle lanes in mid-November.

Had my workstation all setup. Devoured my first (and only) extra hot flat white of the day. The guy opposite me was talking on a conference call in a volume that can only be described as biblical. Belly laughs and everything, his boomy voice echoing across the empty office and putting me off big time. So I changed desks, sat about eight rows away, got re-setup and finally, started doing what I am paid for.

Work finished in a flurry of activity & to-do list updates. Strange how things perk up on Thursday evenings, are on the back burner most of Friday, and taken up with ungodly vigour on Monday morning when they are almost past their due dates. Time management eh?

Anyway — no fancy dinners or southbank walks tonight. Instead, a 2 hour grocery shopping extravaganza at the local superstore. Jammed my car boot with enough rations to feed a small army, brainstorm with the Mrs about a potential Istanbul weekend getaway (watch this space), wrecked a bucket of yogurt during the frantic unpacking, passively read a chapter of a new nonfiction and went to bed almost instantly.

A happy Friday beckons.
