It started like just another Tuesday. But boy did things escalate quickly.
Firstly, on the personal front: Indian matchmaking expertise has forced us to rejig our India travels, literally days after we spent a couple of grand booking our tickets. Thank the stars, eh? The trip was meant to be pure leisure and for the Mrs to finally meet her folks after almost a year. It’s now become the first of many milestones for my sister-in-law’s shotgun wedding. More on this later, but I now need to think of how to make it happen within budget and on time.
On the work front, this would mean more holidays (that I can’t afford to take because of what I am about to tell you next).
The workday was as humdrum as you can imagine, quietly productive but nothing earth shattering. And as I was back home and assisting the Mrs in wheeling our overflowing trolley around the shopping aisles at Asda, my teams notifications erupted. 6:30pm — end of the work day, surely? Alas. We’ve been hit with a critical outage impacting EVERY SINGLE ONE of our components in our multi-million dollar customer premises. And hey, it’s my job to fix it.
