Embracing Discomfort.

Another couple of pristine days lost in a whirlwind of activity. For anyone remotely interested in program & project management, I wholeheartedly recommend organising an Indian wedding. Spanning from the “search” to the “suhaag-raat”, this often-decade long cycle is a true testament of your PM chops. Even if the marriage didn’t last, the sheer experience you’ll gain will turbocharge your career.

Anyway, one of the initial few stages of this interminable process – the engagement of my Sister-in-law– happened yesterday. And the day before that involved huddles of relatives and friends talking over each other and the various protocols that need to be followed on the big-day. One of many big-days obviously, but that’s for a few months later.

I stuck out like a sore thumb, offering neither experience, advice, practicalities, religious insight, PM expertise, or generally anything of any value. I’ve never felt more useless in my life than I did over the last couple of days where everyone was literally burning the midnight oil and working all through the day. For an engagement.

The Mrs was on her joke pitch and in great form. So all great there!

The in-laws, my folks, and her bid me a long goodbye as I wound up with the packing and flew back to London. Three long, hard, wasteful, hot
