Embracing Discomfort.

Annoyed again. Spent 8am to 8pm at work. In the office. That’s not the annoyance though – I love long hours, especially when am in the zone. Which, towards the end, I was.

What really gnawed at me was the escalation I was handling. It was first broken to me mere hours ago by my own line manager. Which is bizarre, because the entire point of my role is to stop anything getting to him. So, I was quite flabbergasted when I did some digging – turns out the issue was highlighted by the customer almost 2 weeks back. And they are now seething. It’s a critical bug in their environment and is threatening to bring down a significant chunk of their complex infrastructure. Jeepers.

Anyway, we are all mobilised now. In highly reactionary mode. But it’s super annoying why the proper escalation path wasn’t followed. Why wasn’t I formed of anything? Or is it my fault? Should I have proactively had these things under lockdown? I need to know every single peep that happens in my accounts, track them, monitor them, and then quash them before they become full blown escalations? I guess even if Kobe has told me to to that, I am going to take the nutritive and set that system up first thing today.

Better late than never.

Anyway, on the house sale front, more potential misery. Turns out there is so much of old crap in our place that there’s barely any place to walk for anyone visiting. Which means I’ve to do some research on skips & rubbish collection ASAP and get them sent out to the house. I’ll get on that too.

Whew. Busy day. Talk soon!
