Earlier date night as we have to spend most of the week packing for our India trip. After a strenuous day at work, where I spent nearly 9 hours actively listening and talking and debating and learning and negotiating and laughing and squirming with customers and colleagues, it was meant to be a relaxing evening at the Hippodrome.
Before our casino night, we grabbed a sordid McDonald’s dinner at a freezing alfresco table outside Liverpool Street station. The wife looking absolutely resplendent in her red, backless dress — matching my bright red tie & pocket square. Look at us cheeky little fashion icons.
Dinner was bleh — I think I much prefer Burger King. Anyway, it was what it was, and on we walked through a packed Soho into the glittery glam of the hippodrome. Magic Mike playing on the first floor, about a billion quid worth of chips on the casino floor, and high-strung, cash-heavy, loose-pursed punters everywhere.
Hadn’t been to a casino in forever but was instantly hooked — roulette & blackjack followed over the next couple Of hours as we made some cash and then spunked it all away chasing more. Typical.
Grabbed some delicious bao buns and burnt basque cheesecake in Chinatown as we reached home just shy of midnight, stripped off, and slept like the absolute dead.
Another day, another dollar.
