One wild Saturday costs more than calories.
Last week, I nailed the perfect routine. Rise at 6 AM, hit a full-body workout, shower, suit up, and dive into work. At lunch, I’d punch out an article. My commute was pure pedal power. Evenings were a blend of domestic duties and side hustles, topped with a carnivore feast, minimal cleanup, a chapter of a good book, and lights out by 10 PM.
This wasn’t just routine; it was revitalization — productive, energized, relentless.
Come Friday, I felt unbeatable. To celebrate, Saturday turned into a marathon of couch, beer, Netflix, and takeout. Classic, right?
Wrong. What a mistake. Sunday was a wreck — hangover, shakes, paranoia, the works. The aftermath seeped into Monday, crippling my comeback. Here I am, still not back to baseline, wrestling with disappointment and dulled senses.
This is the harsh truth about balance. Overindulgence doesn’t just steal a day; it hijacks your week. But here’s the silver lining — it’s all teachable moments. Celebrations are crucial of course, but moderation is key. Maybe the Bible was right about the “6 days of work, 1 day of rest” maxim?
So, here’s my plan: cut down the revelry to just one day.
