A Day In My MBA

Day 1: It Begins

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to do an MBA.

And now, in a few minutes, I’ll be about to attend my first class.

Nervous? Not really. Ill-prepared? Most definitely. Overworked and stuck in traffic? Yes sir. Eager? Yes. Excited? Yes. Worth it? We’ll see.

To be fair, the university did an excellent job of softening my landing — an adventurous, boozy weekend in the splendor of Kippure Estate, Co. Wicklow where I got to fraternize with the rest of my brethren. Broke the ice, made some friends, joined a Whatsapp group, bitched about the inevitability of a screwed-up work/life balance. Troubles were shared, the excitement doubled and the “networking” began in earnest.

So what actually awaits me in the arduous two years ahead? Ten core modules, 4–6 electives, 2–3 projects, a handful of exams, a bunch of classes, interactive workshops, rigorous career counseling, by-the-book Harvard referencing, and a good few Saturday pints.

And I’ve decided to use my blog to…well, blog about my experience. The ups, the downs, the learnings, the teachings, the reflections, the reservations. All of that good stuff.
